Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne has confirmed that he got down on one knee to propose to girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley. Warne took to Twitter to thank well-wishers amid reports suggesting he had asked the model-turned-actress to marry him at the exclusive Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, in front of a VIP crowd of diners. He disputed earlier reports suggesting he proposed before a crowd. "I didn''t propose in front of 200 people at dinner It was done privately and was very romantic - if I say so myself Ps left knee is sore !!!" the Herald Sun quoted Warne as tweeting. "Thanks so much again for all your kind messages, they mean a lot.. EH and I very happy and have had a beautiful lazy day today." The soon to be Mrs Warne also thanked her fans on the popular social networking website. "Thanks again for all your lovely messages. Means a lot to us x," Hurley tweeted. Earlier reports had suggested the king of spin had proposed to the British beauty two weeks ago and was accepted. The latest tweets officially confirming the couple''s engagement, come after the pair were photographed in Scotland at a pro-am golfing competition with the model wearing a large blue diamond ring. Warne is rumoured to have splashed out almost 50,000 dollars on the stunning sapphire, which bears a striking resemblance to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge's royal sparkler. The couple have been dating for about 10 months after Warne split with wife Simone Callahan and Hurley with husband Arun Nayer. |
